2010 Team Accomplishments

Rockers Gold finish 5th in USSSA National WS!!!!!

07/17/10 - 07/24/10 - USSSA Class A National WS - Kissimmee, FL -  The Rockers Gold team has had some really unfortunate luck in the INJURY category this year!!!  On top of all the injuries we already had, six days before the nationals, one of our catchers went down for the remainder of the season.  Then, two days before the nationals, our other catcher was injured to the point she could not catch and really could not swing a bat.... UGH!!!  The team had to make some last minute adjustments but we knew they would work hard and give it their all!!!  And that they did!!!!  The girls  started out very strong sweeping their way through pool/seed play and ended up the 3rd seed overall as we entered into bracket play.  The ladies took care of some good teams during the week from all over the U. S. such as PA, IN, CO, and FL.  But then the team struggled against a very good Oklahoma team and just kind of ran out of gas when we met up with a team from MO.  All in all it was a very good week and we had a lot of fun!!!  And hey, representing Georgia as state champs, and ending up 5th nationally isn't to shabby in itself!!!  And thus the end of another great year of softball by some outstanding young ladies!!!  We have now come to the breaking point in our age group where some ladies have to move up, and some can continue to play at the younger age group.  This of course means that some changes will occur as we move into the 2010-2011 season.  We love you all and wish you all the very best of luck with the remainder of your softball careers!!!  We look forward to another great year at our highest level yet with all those that return!!!  Good Luck and GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!!!!

2010 Southern Sizzler Champion!!!!!

07/10/10 - 07/11/10 - Fast Pitch Dreams Southern Sizzler - Aiken, S.C. -  Another 1st place finish for the Rocker Girls!!!  What a weird tournament!!!  I must say it is the first time (and will very likely be the last) we have ever seen a tournament bracket made out where the #1 seed coming out of Pool/Seed play had to play more games than any other team to get to the championship game!!!!  Am I missing something here????  Anyhow, we met the challenge and got some good practice in while bringing home another championship piece of hardware!!  Way to step up to the challenge ladies!!!!

!!!!! GEORGIA STATE CHAMPIONS !!!!!

06/19/10 - USSSA Class A State Tournament - Covington, Ga. - There's nothing else that needs to be said...

The Georgia Rockers Gold are...

2010 USSSA GEORGIA STATE CHAMPIONS!!!!!

Disney World and ESPN... Here We Come!!!

2010 ASA Queen of Diamonds Gold - Runner Up!!!

06/05/10 - 06/06/10 - ASA Queen of the Diamonds - Savannah, Ga. -  The Rocker Girls have been playing very well for the most part but have had some very unfortunate luck over the last month or so.  Somehow we keep finding ourselves on the wrong side of these extra inning, international tie breaker, one run games.  This championship game was unfortunately no different...  But hey, second place in the Gold division is better than first place in the "Not so Gold" division, right?  The girls are continuing to work on their bats so we can get that one hit when we need it to go ahead and put the game away.  One thing I can definitely tell you... once all the girls get their bats on the same page, it will be an awesome event to behold (if your a Rocker Fan, that is)!!!

Go Rockers, You Know!!!

2010 USSSA Moms Are Best - Runner Up!!!

05/08/10 - USSSA "Moms Are Best" - Covington, Ga.-  The Rockers Gold team has had more injuries this season than in all the other years combined but the girls continue to work hard and battle through them. While we came up a tad bit short in this one, the girls continue to show a huge amount of character which is far more important than any softball game we will ever play!  The girls battled all day and came home with the runner-up trophy which is a great accomplishment when you consider the big picture.  When all the girls get healthy...LOOK OUT!!!

Happy Mothers Day to all our ROCKER MOMS!!!!

***Brittany McLamb to play at East Georgia!!!***

04/14/10 -  Brittany McLamb (known to us as Brit Brat) has signed a scholarship to play at East Georgia College in Swainsboro, Ga.   Brittany will play for the BobCats under coach Jordyn Nail in the inaugural softball season for East Georgia.  Brittany played at Harlem High School and was a huge factor in the success of the Georgia Rockers Gold travel team during the 2008-2009 season.  Brittany is a very versatile player on the field with a great bat that can be used in many spots in the lineup.  She is sure to have a great impact on the success of this new program at East Georgia.

Good Luck Brit Brat!!!  The Georgia Rockers Gold family is VERY proud of you!!!

Rockers Gold - USSSA Season Opener Champion!!!!!

02/27/10 - USSSA Season Opener - Covington, Ga. -  Rockers bring home the First Place Championship Trophy (!!!!!) and earn a World Series Berth in first attempt!!!!!  Well, once again the Rocker girls were shorthanded as Cara went down in her first at bat of the tournament with a severely strained quad muscle and then Kayla had to go to the ER after she was hit in the neck/shoulder area with a line drive in the first game she pitched.  Fortunately, both of them will be fine in about two weeks or so with a little rest.  The remaining girls then battled the rest of the tournament and ended up with our first Championship trophy of the year!!!  Way to go Rockers!!!  We are all very proud of you!!!  The team will not play in another tournament until March 20th so we can heal up and get a little practice time in.  Then we will head down to Statesboro [Godzilla Territory ;o)] to play in the ASA March Madness tournament to start our preparation for the first ASA National Berth Tournament next month.  Let's keep the momentum rolling...!!!

2010 is underway!!! - Rockers Gold finish 3rd!!!

02/20/10 - Early Bird Classic - Jackson, Ga. -  2010 is here and the Rockers are on there way...!!!  The team started off a bit shorthanded for the season due to sickness and injury but the girls pulled enough players together and had a pretty successful first tournament in 2010.  The team was cruising along quite well and it looked as though we would be playing in the championship game.  Then that very odd occurrence happened in the bottom of the last inning of the game... the umpire made the wrong call, admitted publicly to all that he made the wrong call, and because he did he had to declare the runner safe... even though he admitted she was clearly out...???  Well, that was a new one to us all... even the other team!!!  The Rockers were still in good shape, but a blooper hit and a blunder or two and the next thing you know we were behind 3-2 and done for the day.  Still, the girls finished in 3rd place which was a good accomplishment considering the minimal amount of practice we have had thus far.  The Rocker girls are looking better than ever and will head up to Atlanta next week expecting to bring home the 1st place trophy!!!  Go Rockers, You Know!!!

***Nicole Young signs to play at Brewton-Parker!!!***

02/17/2010  -  Nicole Young became the first Georgia Rockers Gold player to sign a college scholarship and will be playing at Brewton-Parker College located in Mount Vernon, Ga.  Brewton-Parker is a member of the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) which is part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).  Nicole (or "Nemo" as we know her) has been the starting pitcher for Curtis Baptist High School since she was in the 8th grade and they will surely miss her.   She was also a starting pitcher for the Georgia Rockers Gold travel team in the 2008-2009 season and played a huge part in the success of the team (we already miss her!!!).

Nicole will be playing for Head Coach Jason Bryant and here is what he had to say about our Nemo... "Nicole exhibits all the qualities that we look for on and off the field. She can pitch as well as play other positions. I think she has a quick bat as well which can help her get into the lineup rather quickly to say the least."

We are all VERY PROUD of you Nemo!!!

The Rockers Gold wish you all of the greatest success in your college career!!!

Rockers Gold unveil New Helmets at Christmas Party

MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!!

Be ready for the 16u Rockers Gold Team in 2010!!!

Georgia Rockers Gold - 2009 "Fall Season"

11/07/09 - 11/21/09  -  Due to Georgia High School ball and other scheduling issues the team had a very short "Fall Season" this year.  The Team played in two tournaments and part of a College Showcase before it was rained out.  There are a few new faces this year and from what the coaches see now the Team is looking very solid across the board.  The girls ended up 7-5 during the Fall which is not bad considering we had virtually no practice time together.  The coaches are very pleased and look forward to working with these girls as we move into the "real" season in 2010!!  Go Rockers, You Know!

P.S. Congratulations to our Georgia High School 2009 All Region Players!!!!

2009 Team Accomplishments

Georgia Rockers "Gold" finish 4th place in the Nation at

Panama City, Florida - 2009 USFA World Series!!!!

07/19/09 - 07/26/09 - USFA World Series - Panama City, Florida - "Are you ready?  YEAH!!  Are you ready?  YEAH!!" chanted the Rocker Girls as they prepared to show the world what they are made of in what has turned out to be the largest tournament in Team history.  And show the world they did...........  Well, let me start from the beginning.  By now you have figured out that the Rocker "Gold" Girls qualified for the USFA World Series in Panama City, Florida.  The Team traveled down in several different groups due to different scheduling.  Some arrived Friday, some Saturday, and some early Sunday morning.  Miss Sherrie and Miss Ginger represented the Team Moms in a meeting at 10:30am on Sunday and then Coach Drew and Coach Ken attended the coaches meeting at 2:00pm.  The whole team finally met up about 4:30 Sunday afternoon to get ready for the opening ceremony and parade.  While waiting, the girls showed off their bat speed at the "Mizuno Bat Speed Tent" putting up some pretty impressive speeds.  Then the girls joined the parade and strutted along displaying the Rockers Banner and tossing out candy to the crowd.  When the Team was announced we made it known who we were chanting louder than anyone there according to the parade announcer.  The team then went back to the coaches condo for a final team meeting where the coaches discussed final strategies and handed out a small gift bag to show their appreciation to the girls for their hard work.  A special monogrammed towel was also handed out to each of the girls compliments of "Mother Goose".  The girls then had a little meeting of their own without the coaches so I can't tell you what went on there.  Monday morning the girls started pool play where they lost their first game to an Alabama team 2-0.  At that point the girls went on a tear and went undefeated, yes UNDEFEATED for the remainder of the week all the way up to championship Saturday.  In fact, the girls were one of only four teams that were undefeated in bracket play heading into the final Gold Championship round.  The girls had defeated teams from all over the country including Illinois, Missouri, Tennessee, and etc.  The girls took a setback Saturday morning to a very good Arkansas team and then went on to beat one of the best teams we have seen all year from right here in Georgia... the Silver Bullets.  The Team was then knocked out of the finals by our friends from up in Dalton, Ga... the Georgia Attack.  The girls still took home the 4th place trophy which is an amazing accomplishment when you consider we are a FIRST year 16u team and one of the youngest teams in the entire tournament.  Way to go Rocker Girls!!!!  We are very proud of you!!!!  And thus, the end of another great year of softball by a group of some of the finest young ladies any of us will ever know!!  Go Rockers, YOU KNOW!!

Rockers take 2nd at "Come Bat for Measles"

05/30/09 - 05/31/09 - Once again this was a very nice tournament this year.  The Teams all played for a very worthy cause to help raise money to put toward the cure of Measles.  The Rocker Girls came out of the gate playing pretty well but slipped up in their 2nd bracket game which dropped us to the losers bracket starting first thing Sunday morning.  The girls came out on fire Sunday and won five games in a row to put them in the Championship game against the Carolina Diamonds whom we had stumbled against earlier in bracket play.  Once again the girls continued down their winning path defeating the Diamonds 4-2 in eight innings.  Since this was the Diamonds first loss in bracket play (even though we had now beaten them twice... once in pool play and once in bracket play) we had to do it all over again and yes, believe it or not this tournament goes to another full 7 inning game for the "IF" game.  The game was still scoreless in the 5th inning and after 12 hours of virtually non-stop softball the girls had a couple fielding errors that we were not able to overcome.  This was still an outstanding accomplishment for the Team especially considering the fact that we were very short on pitching the entire weekend due to injuries.  The Bats are starting to come around just at the right time of the year and the Team is ready to start a nice run to the World Series in Panama City, Florida!!  Go Rockers, You Know!!!

FINALLY!!!  A Completed Tournament!!!

Rockers qualify for Gold "A" Class bracket at KOM

04/25/09 - 04/26/09 - King of the Mountain - McDonough, Ga. -  FINALLY!!!  A tournament that is not rained out!!  The Rocker Girls played very well defensively and had some very good pitching this weekend.  While our bats were not "On Fire" they were not completely "Cold" either and were good enough to help seed the Team into the highest class at the end of pool play in this fairly large tournament.  The Rocker Girls continued playing well in bracket play and finished a very respectable 5th in the Gold “A” Class bracket out of a large number of very high quality “A” teams this weekend.  This included some “big” names in the Southeast such as the East Cobb Bullets, Ga. Crusaders, Ga. Scorchers, Silver Bullets, etc, etc.  This was a very good showing for the Team!  Even our losses came down to the wire and were by only 1 run.  One more hit in each of the losses could have easily had us playing for the big trophy so we must keep working to get those bats heated up.  Great job Girls... the coaches are very proud of your efforts this weekend!!  "Whatever it Takes!!"

Weather has major impact on 2009 season to date

04/20/09 - Well, this is not where we hoped to be as we look into the last weekend of April but there's not much any of us can do about ole "Mother Nature".  Our practice and tournament schedules have been clashing with Mother Nature a very high percentage of the time and we have not been able to do much of either thus far in 2009.  We have been rained out of at least 3 tournaments and who knows how many practices at this point.  This has certainly had a major impact on our inconsistent performance in the few games that we have actually been able to play this year.  The good news is that we have seen signs of absolute greatness at times but then just average play at other times.  Average play is definitely not something that this team will accept so look out for the Rockers in the near future as these young ladies have committed to doing "whatever it takes" to get us on the road to success!!  Be prepared to work even harder going forward Rocker Girls... "Whatever it Takes!!"

Georgia Rockers Gold - 2008 "Fall Season"

11/01/08 - 11/23/08  -  All the Georgia girls finished up their High School ball in late October and the Team had a few practices to get ready for a short and sweet "Fall Season".  The Team went ahead and moved up to the 16u age group to "test" the waters and played all four tournaments at the 16u level.  While the girls did not bring home the "trophy" they definitely showed that they can compete at this level.  All games were close and could have easily been won with a single hit here or there.  The girls ended up 8-8-1 during there first shot at this level.  The coaches are very pleased and look forward to working with these girls as we move into the "real" season in 2009!!  Go Rockers, You Know!

P.S. Congratulations to our Georgia High School 2008 All Region Players!!!!

2008 Team Accomplishments

Rockers finish 2008 season very STRONG!!!!

Hit and Run World Series Champions

07/25 & 07/26/08 - Hit and Run World Series - Harlem, Ga. - This was the first "World Series" tournament played in our local area in recent history.  This was not nearly the level of softball that we saw at the WFC World Series in Savannah last week, but none the less it was another great showing of some very solid softball played by our Rocker girls.  The team continued to play at a very high level and took home the tournament championship trophy.  Quite a few of the girls are really "banged up" after several outstanding months of softball, but I can guarantee you that they would all say it was well worth it.  Most of the girls will get a few days off but then they go right into school ball... at least those in Georgia.  Good luck in school ball girls... show them what a "Rocker Girl" can do!!!!  We will get together soon for a nice team party and then start looking at tryouts for next year.  Way to go Rocker Girls...what a GREAT year!!!!!  We are all very proud of the 2008 Georgia Rockers Gold!!!!!!

Georgia Rockers "Gold" - World Series Runner Up!!!

07/14 - 07/19/08 - WFC World Series - Savannah, Ga. - WOW!!!!!!!!!!  What a great week of softball for the Rocker girls!!!!!!!  We headed to Savannah Monday morning, got settled into our hotel, and went to the World Series opening ceremonies that evening.  We had a good showing in the "Fastest Runner" and "Egg Toss" contests, but the rains came before we had a chance to show our MUSCLE in the "Home Run Derby".  We had dinner and headed back to the hotel where the girls and coaches got together for one last team meeting to finalize our strategies and goals.  The coaches also gave each of the girls a small gift to let them know how much we love and appreciate them for their hard work and dedication to the team.  Pool (tournament seed) play began bright and early Tuesday morning for the Rocker girls and they came out ready to go as expected.  The team ended up with 3 wins and 1 loss in pool play that seeded us # 2 for the tournament.  The team handled their first bracket game easily but had a minor set back in the second bracket game that sent us down to the losers bracket.  That's not a problem for this team as it just allowed us to play more games for the money ;o).  We were undefeated on Friday and undefeated on Saturday all the way up to the championship game despite having many injuries to deal with.  By the time we got to the championship game Saturday afternoon, we barely had enough players to even field a team.  The girls continued to hang tough even though we were "pieced together" and were still tied 4-4 in the last inning.  We could not hold on and lost the championship game 5-4 but what an outstanding performance by our girls this week!!!!!  I sincerely believe that our 2nd place trophy was much more gratifying to us than the 1st place trophy was to the other team (that is all I will say about that)!!!!!  The coaches were so PROUD of the INTENSITY and EFFORT that our team gave this week that even a few tears were shed by some grown men.  God Bless the Georgia Rockers Gold - What a Great Year!!!!!

Rockers take 1st while preparing for the "Big Show"

07/11 & 07/12/08 - Hit and Run Tournament - Harlem, Ga. - The Rockers played in one final tournament before heading to the World Series to work on some strategies and put some finishing touches on our game.  In the process, the girls also took home the 1st place trophy!  Way to go team!!  The team seems to be peaking at the right time as the girls looked sharp in all phases of the game.  The coaches and players are very confident that we are ready and will make a good showing in the World Series next week.  It now comes down to the basics... HIT, RUN, SCORE, WIN!!!!

Georgia Rockers "Gold" are World Series Bound!!!!

July 2008 - WFC World Series - Savannah, Ga. - YES!!  The Rockers are heading to the World Series in mid July!!  We have had a good year but this is what it's all about!!  The girls are currently putting "finishing touches" on their softball games as we wind down the year and prepare for the big show.  Everyone Cheer the Georgia Rockers "Gold" on to victories during the last month of our season!  Go ROCKERS, You Know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rockers take 2nd in Hit and Run Tournament

06/20 & 06/21/08 - Hit and Run Tournament - Harlem, Ga. - We have never liked those one inning "IF" shootouts!  You know the old saying... "Any team can beat any team in a given game on a given day", right?  Well, this is even more true when you limit that "given game" to a "single inning".  The Rocker girls were HOT and had run ruled the last several teams in their path including the team that we played in the shootout for the Championship.  A few mistakes and an unfortunate call or two later in the "shootout" and the Rockers found themselves standing with the 2nd place trophy.  The girls worked extremely hard and had great intensity during this entire tournament so it was a somewhat disappointing 2nd place finish.  I can assure you that the coaches continue to be extremely proud of our TEAM and the effort they are giving of late!!  Keep working hard girls!!  We are on our way to bigger and better victories!!

Rockers take 3rd in WFC Southern Shootout

06/14/08 - WFC Southern Shootout - Savannah, Ga. -  WOW!  The Rocker girls did something a little different this weekend... they came out HOT from the beginning!  For some reason we almost always seem to get paired up with one of the top teams in the tournament for our first bracket game and this tourney was no different.  The difference was that the Rocker girls were ready to play and that they did!!  We stayed in the winners bracket defeating both the Stingrays and the Savannah Indians!!  Yes, the Savannah Indians... you know, that team that always seems to have our number!  After that great "get the monkey off your back" victory, we had a break in the action.  Unfortunately, we did not come back so hot and lost in the game that would have had us sitting pretty in the Championship game.  Instead we had to play one additional game to make it to the Championship.  I really don't like getting to the level of what happened next so I won't go into the specifics.  Let's just say a real softball game was not played and the coaches and players had virtually no control of the outcome and leave it at that.  Still, the Rockers took 3rd and came home with another piece of hardware to add to our growing collection!

ISA State Tournament - "So - So" for Rockers

06/07 & 06/08/08 - ISA State Tournament - McDonough, Ga. - Largest tournament of the year but man was it HOT!!  The temperatures were around or above 100 degrees the entire weekend!!  As luck would have it we faced the eventual tournament Champion in our first bracket game... The Georgia Thunder.  We actually had an opportunity to really put the pressure on the Thunder in the first inning but we could not capitalize on a bases loaded, 1 out situation and only ended the inning with a 1-0 lead.  We still played tough and had our chances but could not come out victorious.  We won several  games on Saturday and several on into Sunday and then came across the eventual 3rd place team and simply ran out of gas.  Not great, but not bad as we probably ended up in the top third of the teams in this fairly large tournament.  Several girls headed out for vacation and we hope they have a great time!!  We will pick it up and continue working hard next week.

Rockers Bats are "Heating Up" in Lexington, S.C.

05/31/08 - Come Bat For Measles - Lexington, S.C. - Great cause, great tournament...  The team played in this tournament to help the American Red Cross raise money and awareness for the Measles initiative.  Over $12,000 dollars was raised during the weekend to help this cause!!  Some great softball was played as well!  The Rocker Girls were a little slow getting out of the gate on Saturday morning but then went on a tear and probably played their best softball in a while on Sunday.  It was definitely the best offensive production we have seen in some time as the bats were on fire.  The girls were not able to make it all the way to the championship game after the slow start but they did end up as one of the top teams in the tournament.  The coaches are VERY PROUD of the effort and intensity that we saw from the team this weekend!!!  Let's keep it going!

One Run Games Continue to Haunt Rockers

05/10 & 05/11/08 - Queen of the Diamonds - Statesboro, Ga. - One year ago the Rockers were proud to take home the 1st place trophy from this tournament.  As pool play wound down the Rocker Girls were in great shape as they went undefeated and wound up as the 2nd seed to start bracket play.  Somehow the girls let a squeaker slip away and lost in the nightcap 2-1.  The next morning the weather caused many delays but when we got started the girls came roaring out of the gate for an easy win.  A few games later we had another squeaker and somehow lost it 3-2.  The girls played well for the weekend but could not get that one hit or make that one defensive play when it was needed.  It was still a good tournament and a Happy Mothers Day for all of our team moms.  We now have all of our team together and are preparing for the stretch run to the World Series.

Rockers have "Ups" and "Downs" in Conyers

05/03/08 - ISA Girls Rule - Conyers, Ga. - 8:00am is just simply to early for the Rocker girls to be on the softball field.  Our play certainly showed that in the first game of this tournament and off to the losers bracket we went.  The girls bounced back and had several fairly easy wins and then hung on to win a 4-3 decision.  We then met up with the same team we started with.... a very good Georgia Scorchers team.  It was now 6:00pm and the girls were wide awake and expected to continue down the winning path.  Unfortunately, we were unable to overcome the many errors that we had in the game and the Scorchers came out victorious.  We tipped our hats to the Scorchers who ended up taking home the 1st place trophy.  They are a fine group of young ladies and coaches and have a very good team.  The Rockers have just about finished nailing down our roster and we will have the rest of our players back starting next weekend so look for BIG things from this team for the rest of the year!!  Thanks to Kristyna for helping us out this weekend once again!

Rockers take 4th with several 1 run losses

04/13/08 - ISA Spring Break Out - Conyers, Ga. - This was a "two-tripper".  Originally the tournament was scheduled for Saturday but when we got there the rains simply would not stop long enough to get play started.  We hung around for several hours and then the decision was made to play the tournament on Sunday.  We had to go home and come back the next day thus making this a "two-tripper" ;o).  Overall the Rocker girls outscored their opponents by a ton this weekend.  The tournament really came down to two games that we could not quite get over the hump and ended up dropping both of those games by one run.  The Rocker girls are continuing to work hard so that we will soon be on the other side of these very close games that we have been having lately.  Thanks to Amber, Kristen, and Kristyna for playing with us this weekend!!

Rockers take 1st place trophy from March Madness

03/29/08 - ISA March Madness - Powder Springs, Ga. - Well... this isn't exactly the way you like to take home the 1st place trophy but hey, 1st is 1st I guess.  The tournament was moving along quite nicely and the Rocker girls were undefeated for the day when the rains came and came and came.  We waited and waited and waited but by the time the rains subsided the fields were no longer playable.  The Rocker girls had out scored their opponents 13-2 at this point.  Since the fields were not available the next day to continue play, the tournament director decided to have the only 2 teams left that were undefeated flip a coin for 1st place.......we won the flip!  Of course, we felt we would have won the tournament anyhow but did not get the chance to completely prove it.  It's another nice 1st place trophy for the Rocker girls just the same.  Thanks to Kayla, Danielle, and Megan for playing with us this weekend!!

Rockers take 5th due to several very close losses

03/22/08 - WFC Fastpitch Hunt  - Savannah, Ga. - This was a fairly large tournament and the Rocker girls had high hopes of another trophy.  The team was ready to go after pool play but wouldn't you know it, we were seeded against the Savannah Indians for our first bracket game.  A few mistakes sent us to the losers bracket in a 3-1 loss.  Well, you know we play well under adversity so we played through the losers bracket winning several games and then guess what.... yep, those Savannah Indians again!  Now, don't get me wrong, we love the Savannah Indians as they are a great team with some great girls but for some reason they seem to have our number.  We gave it our all but came up short this time 4-2 and were done for the day.  Thanks to Danielle, Megan, Amber, and Kinsey for helping us this weekend!!

Rockers take 1st in Hit and Run Tournament!!

Coach Chago HUNG us out to... GET WET!!  Thanks Coach!!

03/16/08 - Hit and Run Tournament - Harlem, Ga. - It was a rough Saturday in the area with all the rain, thunderstorms and tornadoes but that did not stop the Rocker girls.  The bats were a little slow getting started on Saturday morning, but with every game the bats got a little warmer.  By the time we got to the Championship game Sunday afternoon, the bats were pretty well cranked up and we defeated the "Big Cheese" 11-3 to take the first place medals. Thanks to Amber and Kelsey for playing with us this weekend!!  Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those that were affected by the destructive weather this weekend.

Rough Tournament - Rockers take 3rd

02/16/08 - Hit and Run Tournament - Harlem, Ga. - Well, you know what they say... "You can't win them all".  The Rockers played in a rare local tournament and wouldn't you know it... we forgot to bring our bats.  Two 1 run losses to some pretty good teams made it a disappointing tournament for the Rocker Girls.  But hey, the girls kept their heads high and we will move on having learned an important lesson in the world of competitive sports. We did have one very high point for the weekend however.  The girls received their individual Rockers Blanket!!!!!  Isn't it beautiful!!!!!

Thanks very much to the Clem's - Ruthann, Mike and Boo - for all of their hard work,
time, and money invested to make this special gift for the Rocker Girls!!!!!

Rockers take 2nd in Super Bowl Challenge!!!

02/01/08 - Super Bowl Fastpitch Challenge - Bluffton, S.C. - And here we GOOOOOOOOOO...... The 2008 Georgia Rockers "Gold" season is underway!!!  What a way to start the season Ladies!!  Same team,  a few new players, and a brand new mascot (hooray for Chucky!! ).  The team drove down Friday night to get a good nights rest and be prepared for the kick off of the 2008 season.  I hear that some did a little more driving than others but that is only hearsay on my part (the word out is that Lonnie may know something about that ).  We arrived at the ball field about 9:30 Saturday morning to warm up and prepare for our first game in 2008.  The games started and once again we took the hard route to the championship game; BUT, we did get there (many games later of course).  We met up with our friends, the Savannah Indians, about 6:30pm Saturday night to decide the tournament champion.  As usual, the Indians were very tough.  We were not able to completely overcome the long road that we had to travel down but we were happy to take the 2nd place trophy home from our first tournament in the 2008 season.  Way to go Rocker Girls!!!  We are very proud of your efforts in this tournament!!  Let's all keep working hard and making improvements every week.  A special thanks to Kristyna and Megan for their assistance in this tournament!!  Go Rockers, You Know!!!!!!

Rocker Girls Christmas Party 12/08/2007

12/08/07 - Rockers Christmas Party - Hephzibah, Ga. - The Rocker Girls, Coaches, Parents and Families all got together to celebrate Christmas with our Team Family.  The ladies (and some of the men) laid out an incredible spread of food and we ate and ate and ate (especially a couple of the coaches and we're not giving out names!!).  The girls played a bit of basketball (yes- BASKETball!!), ping pong and air hockey and then moved in and settled around the Christmas Tree.  Coach Drew started off playing Santa Clause to let Miss Sherry know how much the team appreciates her hard work!!   Then the girls started the Chinese style gift exchange.  There were a lot of nice gifts and the girls had a great time swapping them around until the game was over.  Everyone ended up with a nice gift and we all enjoyed watching it play out.  The girls then all had a "spend the night" party and a few of the girls made a new friend.... I believe his name was "CHUCKY" - right Toree!!!  When the girls finally woke up the next morning we went out to the batting cage for one last practice in 2007.  The girls were hitting the ball quite well in this "out of season" practice which gives us high hopes as we move into 2008.  We all wished each other a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and agreed to reconvene after the holidays.

Rockers take 2nd in Trick or Treat Special!!!

10/27/07 - Trick or Treat Special - Savannah, Ga. - What a day!!  Most of us left home around 6am on Saturday morning and finally made it back home approximately 21 hours later (around 3am Sunday morning).  BUT... we came home with another piece of hardware to add to our collection!!  Way to go Girls!!!  We started off slow in bracket play losing to the Longhorns 6-5 in what went down to an international tie breaker.  We all took a break, ate some lunch, and set our goal to win all the way through the losers bracket and get to the championship game.  And that we did!!!  4 games later we found ourselves heading to the championship game against the Savannah Indians.  The team was tired and very injured but the girls hung tough.  We couldn't beat the rested Indians on this night, but we still took 2nd place which is an OUTSTANDING accomplishment considering all the injuries, and all the games we had to play (back to back to back...) to get to the championship game.  A special "Pat On The Back" to those who played through injuries to help the team succeed... Rocket, Boo, Toree, AB, and Gabi (oh yeah, Coach Drew too ☺).  The coaches and parents are VERY  PROUD of the entire teams accomplishment this past weekend!!!!!!  Lets keep working hard to improve so we can bring home the "GOLD" very soon!!  P.S.- Thanks very much to Kristyna and Brittany for playing with us this past weekend!!
